Dr. Kaunda is a founder and CEO of Pangaea Securities Limited (EA) and Chairman of National Investment Company Plc., Tanzania`s largest empowerment company. He is a co-founder of VIASAT-1 TV, an Associate of ECONET Group. In his diplomatic career, he was the first Permanent Representative of the United Republic of Tanzania on the Council of the United Nations ICAO. He supervised the establishment of Alliance Air, a joint Airline of the Governments of Tanzania, South Africa and Uganda. Kaunda is also the chairman for the Rural Electrification project Agency, Tanzania - a government agency responsible for the aggressive rural electrification project that is rapidly changing the face of Tanzania by reaching out to the remotest villages to ensure they have access to power. He is a non-Executive chairman for Nicol - an investment Company holding shares for individuals and corporations in Tanzania.
Gideon Kaunda holds an LLB degree from the University of East Africa at Dar Es Salaam College, a Diploma in Air and Space Law from Mc Gill University, Institute of Air and Space Law and a Master’s Degree (LLM), as well as a Doctorate in Civil Law PhD (DCL), both from Mc Gill University, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, Canada. Dr. Kaunda served as a Co-opted Member of the MIT Transportation Laboratory, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Boston, USA.
